Staff learning and development plays a crucial role in the supporting staff in the changing Library field, but too often, we create learning opportunities based on our assumptions rather than underlying need. By conducting a needs assessment, trainers and programmers can better design learning objectives to meet their audience's gaps in knowledge, skills, and abilities.
