After serving as a school librarian for 23 years, Heidi Hammond now coordinates the school library media specialist portion of the MLIS Program at St. Catherine University. She has served on several book award committees: the Randolph Caldecott Award for ALSC, the Margaret A. Edwards Award for YALSA, and the Excellence in Nonfiction for Young Adults Award, also for YALSA.
